Communication is my passion...
I love communicating ideas using methods that engage and excite. I enjoy finding new ways to relay information about things that matter to a wider public.
Communication is a two way process...
I am deeply committed to facilitating unheard voices, through research interviewing and story telling. I never tire of hearing first hand how people understand life and find meaning in their experiences.
Communication is open minded...
Offering a conduit that allows people to convey feelings and thoughts about difficult subjects and issues is a valuable endeavor. Kindness, tolerance and humor are my watchwords.
I am an experienced consumer insights and communications professional, an educator, and a life-long out-of-the-box problem solver, with a reputation for getting the impossible done yesterday.
My specialisations include market research, data analytics, and consumer psychology and behaviour.
My skills include: storytelling, communications & education, qualitative and quantitative marketing research including advanced data analytics, marketing strategy, budget and project management, and management and leadership of diverse teams.
I completed my PhD at the University of British Columbia working in Marketing, Consumer Psychology and Conservation. My doctoral research looked at pro-social consumer behaviour, specifically charitable donations to animal causes, drawing in research from the fields of marketing and human-animal interactions.
I also have a long background in film-making and story telling, with over a decade spent working for the BBC Natural History Unit as a factual program maker. As well as working as an adjunct professor at UBC Sauder SFU Beedie Business Schools I work as a market research consultant and freelance writer.
I currently live in Vancouver with my family. In my free time I enjoy hiking with our dog as well as trying to grow impossibly strange exotic plants.
